Surface Laser Treatments (PRK, LASEK) in Iran

• The physician first carries out a complete eye examination in order to ensure the health of the eye.
• The shape and thickness of the cornea are also evaluated.
• Pupil size, refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism), as well as other eye conditions, are also determined.
• The tear film on the surface of the eye will also be evaluated.
• A corneal Topographer is utilized to measure the curvature of the anterior surface of the eye and create a “map” of the cornea.
• Using LASIK-related WaveFront Technology, light waves are directed into the eyes to provide a more accurate map of the abnormalities that adversely affect vision.
• The doctor will also ask about the patient’s general health history.
• Before undergoing LASIK surgery in Iran, the patient should give up wearing contact lenses. (usually around 2 weeks).

• Anesthesia eye drops are dropped into the eye/eyes in order to prevent any discomfort during the surgery.
• The eye/eyes will be placed under the laser and a tool called a lid speculum will be utilized to keep the eyelids open.
• The surgeon will use an ink marker to mark the cornea before making an incision.
• A suction ring is placed in front of the eye to prevent eye movements or loss of contact, which can adversely affect the quality of the incision.
• The patient will be asked to stare at a red light for a short period of time.
• The Laser light causes a painless deformation of the cornea, even though the patient may experience a feeling of pressure in their eye/eyes.
• The LASIK procedure is performed on each eye separately. Each surgery takes only about 5 minutes to complete.

• The eyes are usually covered with a bandage after the surgery. This bandage should remain in place and over the eyes until the time that your doctor has recommended.
• The patient may experience temporary burning or itching in their eyes.
• The patient is discharged after a quick post-operative visit.
• Clarity of vision should improve by the very next morning.
• Vision should stabilize within a few days after the surgery and continue to progress.
• In general, examinations are carried out by the physician the day after the LASIK surgery.
• The patient must avoid rubbing his/her eyes.

• In LASIK surgery, the surface layers of the cornea are not affected and the evaporation of the corneal tissue occurs in the middle layers.
• The LASIK procedure is carried out without the need for hospitalization and in “only 1 day”.
• Local anesthesia is applied during LASIK surgery, which is easily tolerated by all patients.
• You can have the treatment performed simultaneously on both eyes.
• LASIK surgery had a short recovery period.
• Long-term observations of patients have indicated that no cases of visual impairment have been reported as a result of laser exposure.

This surgery is considered to be a low-risk procedure with a high success rate.
