Following the instructions before and after the arm lift, you can minimize these risks. In addition, the type of the surgery, its extension, the proficiency of the surgeon, and the skin recovery pace are other risk determining factors in this operation.

Although Brachioplasty is generally accepted as a safe operation and significant problems only rarely occur, just like any other surgery, you may experience some other problems in addition to pain and bleeding:

• Bad reaction to anesthesia
• Accumulation of blood or fluids under the skin
• Infections
• Severe bleeding

• Damage to nerves, muscles, or blood vessels

• During the first week, you shouldn’t do activities that increase your blood pressure, because you will increase your chance of bleeding on the spot.

• You should be able to go to work after 14 days.
• After one month, you will be able to do aerobics such as stationary bikes or brisk walks.
• Almost six weeks after the surgery, you will be able to do your own activities without help.
• Avoid lifting heavy objects, doing heavy exercise, and running until six weeks.
• For one month, avoid doing sports that directly impose pressure on the operated area.
• During the recovery period, do not expose the wound to extreme force, pressure, or movement.
• Not smoking is crucial during the recovery because it lengthens this period.
• Carefully follow the postoperative instructions to get the best results.

In spite of the swelling and the bruises, the stiffness and smooth shape of the arm is apparent right after the surgery.

However, the final result is visible after three months which is often long-lasting. In fact, it will last until you won’t go through fluctuations in your weight, even for years.

Yet, the skin loses its elasticity with aging naturally and loosens. If you gain so much weight after the surgery and then lose it, the extra skin will be back.

In either skin, the condition will be better than what you experienced before the operation. Therefore, your weight stability helps maintain the result of the surgery.
