Before Forehead Reduction Surgery
Before the procedure, your physician will evaluate your face with regard to aesthetics and will determine the area needed to be reduced. For aesthetic purposes, the forehead should take one-third of your face from the top of the eyebrows to the hairline.
Forehead Reduction Surgery Steps
- Forehead Lowering is usually done under general anesthesia or local anesthesia for pain and bleeding reduction.
- Firstly, the hairline and the forehead area that is planned to be removed should be marked. In this step, great caution is taken so that the nerves of the hair are not damaged.
- The entire forehead should be anesthetized using a local anesthetic covering the hairline to just above the eyebrows.
- The surgeon makes an incision along the marked area, and separates the skin and the underlying connective tissue, and removes the marked area. It may range between 1.5 and 3 cm.
- The upper edge of the incision is pulled down along the hairline and attached to the lower edge of the incision to make the forehead shorter.
- In this procedure, the forehead is always shortened, and tough eyebrows are not necessarily lifted.
- This procedure may take between 1 to 5 hours based on the type of operation and the condition of the patient.
After Forehead Reduction Surgery (Recovery Phase)
- Most people may return home in a few hours following the operation.
- Ten days after the procedure, you should see your physician to remove the sutures.
- Fine hair loss may naturally occur 2 to 4 weeks after the procedure.
- Regular checkups are mandatory between 2 and 4 weeks after the procedure.
- Bruising and swelling will continue for a week. But they will improve during the second week.
- You can get back to work after two weeks.
- In the third month, the incision might still be red.
- After six months, the incision is fully healed and difficult to see.
- After 12 months, you will feel entirely normal.
