Detail Breast Reduction Schedule After Arrival In Iran
Day 1
An agent from MitraMed will be waiting for you at the airport upon your arrival. A private transfer taxi will take you to your hotel. After you check in to your hotel and have a rest, you will be taken to your physician’s clinic. The doctor will visit you. The required pre-surgery tests will be carried out. Then, you will be transferred back to the hotel.
Day 2
You will be taken from your hotel to the clinic or hospital where your breast reduction surgery will be carried out. The surgical team will prepare you for the operation. Your surgery will then be performed and you will be transferred to the post-surgery recovery room and monitored carefully by the nursing team. If allowed by your surgeon, you will be transported back to the hotel. A nurse is on-call to offer you services at the hotel at all times.
Day 3
You will rest in the hotel. You will follow your physician’s instructions regarding your meals, the position in which you must sleep, and the prescribed medications. An on-call nurse will be at your service at all times.
Day 4
You will rest in the hotel. You will follow your physician’s instructions regarding your meals, the position in which you must sleep, and the prescribed medications. An on-call nurse will be at your service at all times.
Day 5
You will continue to rest at your hotel. Your nurse will continue to provide care and depending on your physician’s advice, you will be able to take a walk up to 30 minutes long each day.
Day 6
You will be taken to your physician’s office and he/she will change your bandages. Your surgeon will then provide you with the necessary instructions in order to obtain a full recovery. You will then be transferred back to your hotel. Based on your physician’s diagnosis and confirmation, you will now be able to make the necessary plans for your return flight back home.
Day 7
You will be presented will a special gift from the MitraMed medical team as a memorial to your breast reduction in Iran and you will then be taken to the airport to board your flight back home. This is the starting point of the MitraMed follow-up procedure until a 100 percent recovery is obtained.

What is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction also referred to as reduction mammoplasty, is a medical approach used to reduce the size and also improve the shape of the breasts, making them more fit in the individual’s body.
A breast reduction removes a large amount of breast tissue and skin. This changes the shape and lifts the breasts, and ultimately reduces their size. It can also make the dark-skinned area around the nipple smaller.
If the mammary gland weighs more than 0.5 kg, then the risk of developing the number of diseases in the lower back, arms, and neck is significantly increased.
From an aesthetic point of view, it is significant to keep in mind that due to gravity, large breasts become sagging very rapidly.
Preparation Regarding Breast Reduction in Iran
Most patients are evaluated and examined before undergoing breast reduction in Iran. This evaluation may include the following:
- Assess the patient’s general health and fitness prior to the breast reduction through performing various tests and examinations. These may include a blood test and, if need be, an electrocardiogram (ECG), and a chest x-ray. The images allow the patient’s breasts to be compared before and after breast reduction in Iran.
- Inform your surgeon about your current medications, any allergies you may have, and information regarding your treatment plan & hospital services.
- You will not eat or drink anything for at least 4 hours before undergoing breast reduction.
Breast Reduction Procedure
On the day of breast reduction in Iran, the surgeon will draw detailed plans on your torso to exactly determine what parts of the breast tissue are going to be removed.
They will also determine the new position of the nipple and areola (the dark-skinned areas around the nipples).
- Anesthesia
Breast reduction is usually carried out under general anesthesia. Certain medications will be prescribed to ensure your comfort. The procedure usually takes 2 to 3 hours.
- Making the Incisions
The different types of incisions include:
The Vertical Technique: This method is often chosen as the preferred method for breast reduction in Iran. This involves making an incision around the areola (periareolar incision) in combination with a vertical incision that extends from the areola to the crease below the mammary gland. This method helps prevent future complications and does NOT adversely affect breastfeeding. Meanwhile, it allows the surgeon to significantly change the size and shape of the breasts.
The Classic Technique (Anchor Technique): This procedure allows the doctor to remove a significant amount of breast tissue. The surgeon makes an inverted T-shaped periareolar incision, that is, along the contour of the areola, between the areola and the mammary gland, and along the crease below the breast. The suture marks left after the anchor reduction technique is more visible than in other techniques. However, the method is very efficient, and in some cases, irreplaceable with other techniques.
- Removing Breast Tissue and Changing its Position
Glandular tissue, fat, and skin are removed. The nipple and areola are then moved to their new position. The skin is brought down from both sides of the breast and around the areola in order to form a new breast curve. Blood flow to the nipple and areola is usually maintained, so they can be moved to their new higher position. If the breast is very saggy, the nipple may be completely removed and replaced using a graft. The nipple will then receive its blood again from the underlying breast tissue.
- Closing the Incisions
The skin is placed on the new breast, and the incisions are closed using absorbable sutures. Thus, a new breast is formed. The scars left are permanent, but in most cases, they fade over time and improve significantly.
- Obtaining Results
Your bosom will be tightly bandaged immediately after breast reduction in Iran, or you will have a surgical bra to apply pressure and provide support. You will experience breast tenderness, swelling, and bruising for a few weeks after breast reduction. Over time, the swelling will subside and the scars will fade significantly. Breast Reduction Recovery Phase
- After the breast reduction in Iran, you may be required to spend a day or two in the hospital and will be under the supervision of medical staff.
- In order to prevent complications, your surgeon will prescribe antibiotics. Dressings are changed every 3 to 4 days for the first couple of weeks.
- A small, thin tube may be temporarily placed beneath the skin to drain excess blood or fluid. Sutures are removed 10 to 14 days after breast reduction.
- Obtaining full recovery from a breast reduction in Iran may take 2 to 6 weeks.
- Some surgeons recommend that you wear an exercise bra around the clock for up to 3 months after undergoing breast reduction.
- Light recreational activities such as walking, and light exercise can usually begin after 2 to 3 weeks. You may gradually progress to doing more intense exercise after 4 to 6 weeks.
- Depending on the intensity of your work, you should be able to return to work after 2 to 3 weeks.
- Reduction mammaplasty is considered to be major surgery, and it is very common to feel tired when returning to work. This condition can last up to 3 months.
