Neck Lift In Iran

With aging, the skin gets thinner, especially around the neck. Actually, the neck is one of the first areas which show our age, and covering it with long-necked clothes or scarves is just a temporary solution. The chin, vertical lines or the horizontal ones hand in hand help make us look older than we are. In this case, a neck lift would be a good solution. There are various methods for neck lifts some of which are invasive and some other are not. A neck lift tightens the muscles and the skin and therefore, improves the appearance of the neck and the jaw.

Neck lift surgery which is also called Lower Rhytidectomy or submental lipectomy is an invasive method that improves the aging signs in the neck. Various forms of a neck lifts in Iran are:

Platysmaplasty aims to make changes (remove or change the place of) to the platysma muscle. This muscle starts from the bottom of the face up until the chest and the shins. With aging, platysma loses its strength and elasticity and creates vertical bands on the neck. This condition is called “turkey neck”. For platysmaplasty, the surgeon creates an incision under the chin to have better access to the muscles. During the surgery which takes 2-3 hours, the broken muscles are sutured and tightened. Some parts of them may even be removed, if necessary.

Cervicoplasty is done to remove the extra skin from under the neck. If the muscles of the patient’s neck are strong, Cervicoplasty will be a proper option to make the patient’s neck look better. Cervicoplasty is carried out in different ways that differ in the place of the incision:

1.1. Anterior Cervicoplasty

In this method, the incision is located under the chin. The sagging skin and extra fat are removed through the incision and neck muscles are tightened. The wound is then sutured. Since the incision is limited to the chin, you cannot improve the sagging skin in the jawline.

1.2. Limited Cervicoplasty

This method is more extensive than anterior Cervicoplasty and is suitable for those who do not want their scars to be visible. Limited Cervicoplasty removes sagging in the jawline and makes it more distinguished. In this method, a U-shaped incision is cut around the ears; the neck and jaw skin is lifted from the right and left and the excessive fat is removed. Broken muscles will also be repaired. The disadvantage of this method is that it has more swelling compared to anterior Cervicoplasty and you may need to use drainage tubes for short.

To do Platysmaplasty Corset or Platysma plication, the surgeon makes a small horizontal cut right under the chin and through that, the two sides of the platysma are tightened by rows of stitches. By doing this, a uniform disc of muscle is created, and therefore, the neck becomes resistant to vertical lines and the angle of the jaw and the neck becomes more visible. The excess fat will also be removed, if necessary. This technique is quite efficient and makes the connection between the jaw and neck look natural. The result of this complicated, time-consuming surgery is apparent immediately after it but the final result will be seen three months later.

This is a less invasive process and is also known as Suture Suspension or neck sling. To do this surgery which usually takes an hour or two, small incisions are made under the chin and extra fat is removed. Then, two incisions are made behind the ears and through them, neck muscles are tightened. After that, through a tunnel under the neck skin- right under the jaw- a stitch is placed from ear to ear. Therefore, the sagged skin and vertical lines are improved during this process.

Traditional Neck Lift is a combination of Platysmaplasty and Cervicoplasty. In other words, both the excess skin will be removed and the platysma muscle will be tightened. The incision will start from where the hair grows and ends at the anterior hair. The extra hair will be removed or will properly be shared between the jawline and neck. The tissue under the neck skin will be relocated and the platysma muscle will be tightened with stitches. Then, the skin will cover the area and the rest will be cut. If necessary, another incision will be made under the chin to do liposuction under the neck and improve the muscle there. This procedure is carried out under local anesthesia and takes 2-4 hours.

• Your doctor examines your health condition and your expectation from a neck lift in Iran.
• You should not smoke at least 6 weeks before the surgery to shorten the recovery period.
• Regardless of the type of surgery, drinking enough water before surgery is crucial. It assures a safe recovery.
• Taking aspirin, anti-inflammation and herbal supplements should be stopped a while before the surgery.

• You may need to stay at the hospital overnight to be monitored.
• Your neck will be bruised, numb and tight right after the surgery.
• Swelling, numbness, discharge from the wound, and pain is normal after the surgery and will be less after 48 hours.
• Your face and neck will be bandaged after the lift surgery to minimize swelling and bruises.
• If necessary, drainage tubes will be placed to remove blood or fluids.
• Non-absorptive stitches will be removed after one week.

Disadvantages of Neck Lift

• You will feel tight in your neck for months after the surgery.
• After the rejuvenation of your neck, aging may become more significant in other parts of the body.

Non-surgical neck lift procedures are less invasive and involve insignificant risks. However, there are some potential risks:

• Reaction to anesthetics
• Accumulation of blood or fluids under the skin
• Infection
• Bleeding
• Change in the perception of the skin
• Hair fall in the incision area
• Allergic reactions
• Damage to lower tissues
• Blood clotting
• Damage to nerves
• Dissatisfaction with the result

• Most of the non-surgical methods have no or very short recovery period and the result is visible right after the process. The surgical procedures’ recovery depends on the body of the patients and the extent of the expansion of the surgery. Usually, it takes two weeks for the patients to rest at home and after that, they can do their routines.

  • Removing the stitches if necessary.
  • Reduction of bruises and swelling.
• The third week after Neck Lift
  • You can go do all your routines, yourself.
  • After the bruises and swelling is gone, improvement is visible in the neck.

In the fourth week, the recovery is rather complete and the swelling evades to great degrees. Numbness and skin tightness may linger for a few months. For some months after the surgery (at least 6 months), the skin will be red and uneven in the incision area which will go back to smooth after 6 to 12 months.

• The durability of non-surgical methods is at most 2 years.
• The result of lift surgery is not permanent because you cannot stop aging. With growing older, the skin sags again, but it is expected that the lift remains 5-10 years.
• Constant protection against sunlight and continuing a healthy diet helps preserve the young appearance of the area.
• Although you will get a good result from this surgery, there are no guarantees for getting the perfect result. You may sometimes have to do other surgeries as well.

Since the incisions are located in the hairline or natural wrinkles of the body, the scars are not usually visible. Those that are made around the ears are hidden in the hairline. The ones under the ears will also be hidden in the ear wrinkles. Chin incision, too, will not be visible. Generally, as soon as the wound heals, the incision lines will be faded and will not be visible.
