What is Dentures?
Keeping teeth healthy and preserving them at older ages is very difficult. Usually, as people get older, they lose some of their healthy teeth even if they are very careful with their oral hygiene.
In most cases, the condition of the oral cavity and mouth worsens due to age-related changes. For instance, one of the causes is the narrowing of blood vessels, which disrupts blood flow to the gums and then leads to tooth loss.
At present, tooth loss is no longer considered to be a disaster as there is now a wide selection of new-generation dentures available. Dentures are made of modern and new materials and present a very natural appearance; so you can use dentures easily.
The Stages of the Placement of Dentures in Iran
Your dentist will explain exactly what you need to do step by step so that you are always aware. Thus, you will feel more confident if you need to have your tooth removed.
A template of your jaw is taken which is used to order a denture.
Wax walls are utilized in order to record the canine to ensure its pleasant condition. At this stage, you may be asked to select the form and color of your new teeth.

When completed, the dentures will be placed within the mouth and you will receive instructions regarding how it is done
The Various Types of Dentures in Iran
Dentures in Iran are available both as fixed and removable:
A. Removable Dentures
1. Fragmented Dentures (Removable Partial Denture)
In case there are enough healthy teeth remaining in the mouth, the existing gaps can be filled with fragmented dentures. The main frame and base of the dentures are made of plastic or metal; which are then attached to the adjacent healthy teeth using special clamps.
2. One-Piece Dentures (Complete Dentures)
A one-piece denture can be used if there aren’t any healthy teeth left in the jaw. The denture is placed on a plastic base that is the same color as the patient’s gums, and the artificial teeth, which are made of plastic or ceramic, are anchored onto it.
The durability of a one-piece denture is mainly affected by the size of the contact surface, its shape, and also its height. In order to carry this out, a thorough anatomical and functional assessment of the jaw must be considered.
B. Fixed Dentures
A dental crown is like an artificial protective cap that has been designed to protect the damaged tooth and restore its previous function. The crowns are fixed on the tooth beneath using a special adhesive or dental cement.
Dental bridges are used to bridge the gap caused by a missing tooth. The adjacent healthy teeth act like pillars on which the bridge is anchored and fixed with a special adhesive.
Dental implants are screws that are surgically inserted into the patient’s jawbone as artificial roots. The fixed or removable dentures are then anchored onto these implants.
The Material of Removable Dentures in Iran
- Acrylic
Acrylic is an alternative to the previous generation of materials. Acrylic is the cheapest of all modern materials; so it is often chosen as the material used for making removable dentures in Iran. Another advantage of acrylic is the wide palette of colors available, from which natural shades can be accurately picked out.
However, these types of materials have major problems; for instance, due to the high porosity of the surface of acrylic dentures, bacteria can multiply, which disrupts the natural microflora of the oral cavity. In addition, acrylic dentures are rather fragile. Thus, all these reasons lead to their service life being relatively short.
- Acry Free
In recent years, dentures made from Acry-Free materials have become highly popular. This is a new kind of acrylic polymer.
It is soft and entirely elastic. It is also resistant to mechanical damage and thus, the dentures that are made of this material can be used for up to ten years. The dentures made of this material are made of clear plastic that is not visible on the teeth, so they look very good from an aesthetic point of view.
- Nylon
Nylon is another popular material utilized for making removable dentures in Iran. Nylon structures are very flexible and durable, resistant to pressure and stress. Most of the time, these dentures are fixed in place by suction.
Nylon is an ideal material for making dentures for people who suffer from allergic reactions. For instance, this type does not contain metal elements and is completely anti-allergic.
